It's official. I'm on my way. I am currently sitting in a hotel in the Dallas area, taking advantage of what will be one of my last opportunities to access any form of communication for almost a month. I've said all of my goodbyes, save one, and if I forgot to pack anything, well, too bad. I don't know if I've ever felt my life to be so surreal, or been on such a roller coaster of emotions. I'm kinda wound up right now, which is unfortunate since I have to get up at 3:30 in the morning to catch my next flight. I'm super grateful to my dad for putting up with airports and crazy shuttle drivers to keep me from having to sit alone in the airport for 8 hours. I dare anyone to show me a more supportive family.
One other thing before I try and get some sleep...this may seem kinda silly but I want to explain a hashtag I put on Twitter. I used # glowingember and the reason I did so was because that's what I want to be. I want to be a spark that starts a fire in someone's heart for God. I want to"glow" for God. I just wanted to explain in case anyone was wondering about it :)
And now I'm off to bed, hopefully to get some good rest in before I start sleeping in a hammock :)
Please keep me in your prayers.
Here you will find the thoughts of an ordinary woman who serves an extraordinary Savior.

The Final Countdown
I am down to only five days (well, actually four since it's nearly 1am) until I leave everything and everyone I know behind for almost 5 months. My room is currently in mass chaos, as all of my belongings are strewn about, covering the floor, the bed, the dresser, and the desk as I attempt to sort through what I will need as I go off on this adventure. It's times like these that I wish there were some sort of magic that would do all of the packing for me, not to mention taking care of all of the last minute trips to wal-mart, the bank, the pharmacy, the eye doctor, etc.
Now, please understand, I'm not saying all of this to complain. I really just need to write all of these details down to prove to myself that it's real, it's happening. I'm not sure what emotion is strongest at this point. I go from excitement to stress to missing my family and friends in advance back to excitement again. This is officially the biggest thing I have ever done, and I'm amazed at the way that God has brought me to this point. I just read a story about a man who was led step by step to go on a mission trip to Africa, something he never thought he would ever do! I feel as though I am going through the exact same thing. If it weren't for so many different things, so many different tiny little moments that happened, I wouldn't be in this place, my countdown wouldn't exist. I wish there were a way to tell all of the people who have been a part of the process of bringing me to this point how much the little things they said or did have impacted my life. Of course, that is an incredibly large task that is essentially impossible to accomplish, and so I must content myself with a pitiful, rambling thank you to them on this blog.
Most of all I am grateful to my heavenly Father for the way He is preparing me, even now, for what I'm about to experience. He has provided some amazing people in my life to share their experiences in foreign missions and study abroad programs to help give me a tiny glimpse of what is to come. He has timed all of this so that I haven't had to work, or do school, or anything leading up to this. I've been able to spend so much time with my family. I've been able to take my time packing and moving and all of that jazz. It's amazing how He has provided just what I've needed. I am so excited to be able to come back and share all that I know He is going to do, both in my life and the lives of others.
